Norli Lappin-Eppel Chairwoman

Norli Lappin-Eppel is a historian and lives in Vienna. Her research focus is Jewish history in the German speaking realm in the 20th century, particularly during WWI and the Shoah. She is affiliated with Bet Debora since 2001 and since 2015 board member of Bet Debora e.V.

Andrea Pető Vice Chairwoman

Andrea Pető is Professor in the Department of Gender Studies at Central European University, Vienna, Austria, and a Doctor of Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. She has written six monographs, edited thirty-one volumes and her works on gender, politics, Holocaust and war have been translated into 23 languages. She edited three pioneering books in the field of Jewish Studies with Louise Hecht, Karoline Krasuska Women and Holocaust: New Perspectives and Challenges. IBL, Warsawa, 2015, and with Judith Szapor, Maura Hametz and Marina Calloni Jewish Intellectual Women in Central Europe 1860-2000. The Edwin Mellen Press, 2012,with Helga Thorson The Future of Holocaust Memorialisation. Confronting Racism, Anti-Semitism, and Homophobia Through Memory Work. C. Naomi Osorio-Kupferblum Treasurer

Julie Handman Vice Treasurer

Julie Handman is the director of the Jewish Institute for Adult Education in Vienna. In addition to courses about Jewish religion, culture and history for Jewish and non-Jewish adults she also founded a successful Sunday school for Jewish children.

Louise Hecht Secretary

Louise Hecht is a senior researcher at the Center for Jewish Studies, the University of Potsdam, Germany since 2017 and senior lecturer at the University of Salzburg, Austria. She holds a PhD in Jewish History from Hebrew University, Jerusalem. She is a historian of early modern & modern Central Europe and Israel. 

Barbara Prainsack Vice Secretary

Barbara Prainsack is Professor for Comparative Policy Analysis at Vienna University and Barbara Prainsack is Professor of Comparative Policy Analysis at the University of Vienna, and at the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine at King’s College London. Her research focuses on health and technology policy. Barbara is also a member of several committees providing advice to policy makers, including the Austrian National Bioethics Commission, and the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies. Rabbi Ulrike Offenberg Liaison in Berlin
